Lady Gaga Announces ‘Joanne’ World Tour

Hot on the heels of her inclusive, upbeat and largely apolitical Super Bowl halftime show, Lady Gaga announced a major world tour on Sunday night.

She posted the news of the tour on Twitter :

The tour takes its name from her most recent album, “Joanne,” which was released in October.

Several hours after posting the news on Twitter, tour dates and locations were listed on Lady Gaga’s website. The tour will begin in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Aug. 1, and will include stops in New York, Rio de Janeiro, Berlin and other cities across Europe and the Western Hemisphere before wrapping up in Salt Lake City in December.

Some fans said they were eager to hear her perform but expected to pay handsomely for the privilege.

Others seemed unsurprised that Gaga was riding the wave of her Super Bowl success with a big announcement :

Lady Gaga’s last major tour, titled “Cheek to Cheek,” promoted an album of jazz ballads that she released with the singer Tony Bennett.

Coachella 2017 Headliner : Lady Gaga To Officially Replace Beyonce On Line-Up

Fresh from her Super Bowl LI performance, Lady Gaga has confirmed she will step in for Beyoncé at Coachella after she announced she would not be able to headline the festival due to pregnancy.

Billboard reported that organisers were finalising plans last night and a few hours later Gaga tweeted an updated line-up poster, alongside the caption: “Let’s party in the desert!”
Coachella did pretty well to find such a high-profile stand-in at such short notice (in mega festival terms - it takes place in April) and Gaga is a fitting replacement, the pair having collaborated several times, most memorably on the tracks ‘Telephone’ and (my personal jam) ‘Videophone’.

Beyoncé, who is pregnant with twins, hoped to play Coachella but was advised not to by doctor’s; she could have been in her third trimester during the set.

The slot adds to a busy summer for Gaga, who, off the back of the Super Bowl half-time show, will soon embark on a Joanne world tour.

She will be the first woman to headline Coachella since Björk in 2007 and is joined on the line-up by Kendrick Lamar, Radiohead, Bon Iver, Future, Lorde and more.
The festival takes place in Indio, California on two consecutive weekends: 14-16 and 21-23 April.

An already victorious week for Super Bowl LI halftime performer Lady Gaga is just getting more exciting, with the announcement Tuesday (Feb. 7) that the pop star will be appearing on the upcoming season 9 premiere of RuPaul's Drag Race.

Gaga revealed the news on Twitter, along with a short teaser video, in which Mother Monster throws down the gauntlet: "And may the best woman win."
A press release sent out Tuesday confirmed the Gaga appearance, and also noted that the Drag Race premiere will "unveil a court of cut-throat Queens each competing to snatch the crown and strut away with a $100,000 cash prize and the coveted title of 'America’s Next Drag Superstar.'"

The air date for the season nine premiere has not yet been announced.

Lady Gaga Pulls Second-Most Viewers Ever for Super Bowl Halftime Performance

Lady Gaga's exultant halftime performance at Super Bowl LI is an official hit, both in terms of ensuing catalog sales and in TV ratings. FOX reports that Gaga's 13-minute gig pulled an astounding 117.5 million viewers, making it the second-most-viewed halftime show in Super Bowl history, behind Katy Perry's set at Super XLIX, which drew 120.7 million viewers.

Billboard reported yesterday that following Gaga's Super Bowl cameo, sales of her discography had soared by over 1000% percent, with Joanne single "Million Reasons" standing as her current highest-selling individual song. In fact, with just one day's sales, "Million Reasons" enjoyed its best sales week to date, moving 45,000 units on the day of the Super Bowl alone (Feb. 5).

FOX also reports that Super Bowl LI drew 172 million total viewers across all platforms, with 111.3 million watching on FOX alone. The 172-million mark makes the Super Bowl, which saw the New England Patriots come from behind to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime (the first-ever Super Bowl OT), the most-watched program in U.S. television history.

2017 Super Bowl halftime show: Lady Gaga talks plans, Tony Bennett and Beyonce

Super Bowl LI is getting a full dose of Lady Gaga after the pop star crushed the national anthem at last year's big game. That's fantastic news if you're a Lady Gaga fan or a football fan who was disappointed that her appearance at last year's Super Bowl was so brief.

Country star Luke Bryan will sing the national anthem at this year's Super Bowl, while Gaga will take to the world's biggest stage for the halftime show, and since no one likes to do the Super Bowl halftime show alone, Gaga has invited Tony Bennett to join her.

That's right, the 90-year-old crooner will be singing at the Super Bowl this year.

There was also a rumor that Beyonce might join Gaga for the halftime show since the Super Bowl is being played in Queen Bey's hometown of Houston, however, Gaga shot that rumor down on Thursday.

"She's always very inspiring and gives great advice, she's a very focused and genuine performer," Gaga said.

Gaga also added that she might take a few cues from Beyonce, but that the singer won't be on stage with her.

"I'm going to be taking the spirit of many performers with me on that stage when I go up there," Gaga said. "I'm grateful to have wonderful women in this business that are supportive of me.

The last time the Super Bowl was in Houston, the words "wardrobe malfunction" entered the national lexicon after Janet Jackson's breast was exposed during the show. Gaga said that's not going to happen on Sunday.

The Super Bowl show is a big deal for Gaga, because apparently, the 30-year-old singer has been waiting 26 years to sing at halftime of the Super Bowl.

"I've been planning this since I was 4, so I know exactly what I'm going to do," "Gaga said recently" For me, it's all about giving to the fans and bringing people together that wouldn't normally come together."

There have been some wild halftime shows over the past few years -- um, everybody remembers Katy Perry, right -- but Gaga seems determined to top them all when she takes the stage at halftime of the Feb. 5 game between the Patriots and the Falcons.

"The thing is, is it's such a big world stage in terms of how many people see it and it's been done so many times," Gaga said. "I think the challenge is to look at it and say, 'What can I do differently, how can I elevate certain little things here and there and also make it about the music?'"

Apparently, Gaga is literally going to try and elevate things. One report has suggested that Gaga may attempt to do part of the show from the roof at NRG Stadium. There's also a chance that Donald Trump's name could be mentioned. If his name does come up, it won't be a compliment, because Gaga is not a Trump fan.

Gaga didn't confirm or deny either report during her pre-show press conference that was held on Feb. 2.

Whatever happens in the show, you can probably expect an A+ performance from Gaga's dancers because they've spent hours rehearsing inside of a giant tent that's set up in Gaga's backyard. If you get dizzy easily, don't watch the video below of the giant tent, because it's sideways and it's confusing.

Finally, here's a preview of the show.
